From the square, from the tourist signpost in front of the information center, follow the red tourist sign downhill to Kamenná Street.

At the crossroads by the Church of St. Bartholomew, turn left into Křižovnická Street. After 150 meters, a viewpoint of Cheb Castle opens up on our left. We continue straight to the Sand Gate, which was part of the city fortifications. Behind it, we cross a wooden bridge and continue along the riverbank past the Vávrova bridge to the dam of the Skalka valley reservoir.

 

We continue through the landscaped area with a viewing bridge, past the children’s maze to the Empire-style viewing pavilion, from where there is a view of the dam. The path will then lead us to the former farm, now the Stein resort. On the right, there is a reconciliation cross partially hidden in the grass.

 

At that point, we will have 3.5 km on our feet. At the crossroads behind the farm, we turn right and continue uphill, cross the bridge over the city bypass and to the village of Komorní dvůr. Between the new buildings at the crossroads in front of the Komorní hůrka hotel, turn left and after 100 meters you will reach the information center, a short distance from it there is another reconciliation cross. At the information center, an educational trail begins leading to the entrance to the tunnel with a decorative portal and a memorial plaque commemorating the research activities of J.W. Goethe.

 

You can walk back along the red line to Františkovy Lázně and from there take a bus or a bus from the bus stop at the crossroads with the road to Libá.
